RTP-based Spiffy Gets Even Shinier With Acquisition Of Texas-Based NuVinAir

RTP-based Spiffy has acquired Texas-based NuVinAir, which provides proprietary vehicle cleaning technologies and products. NuVinAir was a larger direct competitor to Spiffy's SmartTumbler product and will enable Spiffy to broaden the range of services and products it can offer its customers.

Since its formation 10 years ago, RTP-based Spiffy has grown into its position as the leading mobile automotive maintenance and detailing company. Having performed over two million services and counting in the parking lots of car fleets, homes and offices across the U.S., its ambition is only growing.

The RTP-based mobile car-care service announced earlier today that it has acquired Plano, Texas-based NuVinAir, a leading provider of patented clean vehicle solutions and proprietary machines. [We previously wrote about Spiffy’s two 2019 acquisitions of Orlando-based YLL and Austin-based NuWash.] Terms of the NuVinAir acquisition were not disclosed.

Spiffy started by providing mobile car wash services and has continued to add new car-care services through the years, including EasyTread tire service last October, brake services in August, 2022, and the SmartTumbler odor-elimination device in March 2022. The growth has been fueled in part by last February’s $30M Series C funding round and a 2022 Series B funding round that topped out at $32M.

Now the growth-by-acquisition strategy returns with NuVinAir. According to the press release, NuVinAir has been at the forefront of developing vehicle cleaning technologies and products. its markets span over 27 states through its extensive network of franchisees across the U.S.

NuVinAir’s Cyclone product system is a patented product dispenser that utilizes autonomous cleaning technology to release its popular cleaning solutions ReKlenz-X, ReNuSurface and Power Podz to eliminate heavy odor and reset a vehicle to a like-new condition.

NuVinAir was a direct competitor to Spiffy’s SmartTumbler. In fact, Spiffy CEO and Co-Founder Scot Wingo said that NuVinAir’s business was about five times as large as the SmartTumbler’s.

With this acquisition, both Spiffy and NuVinAir can provide their collective customers with a wider platform to not only continue eliminating odors, but to also have access to the broad spectrum of other Spiffy services and devices.

“Our shared vision for innovation and excellence makes this partnership a powerful combination,” said Kyle Bailey, NuVinAir’s CEO and Founder. “We are excited to contribute to Spiffy’s growth and to bring unique products and technologies to even more customers.”

Wingo said that, for now, the NuVinAir brand will survive the acquisition and can potentially lead to merging some of their product lines together. But overall, through this integration, Spiffy customers should expect an expanded suite of services and products, without losing any of that Spiffy shine.

Wingo said that he’s excited to bring 10 new members onto the Spiffy team. The hope is that more eyes on both product lines will lead to more innovative ideas and products that will reach markets on an even bigger national scale.

“This acquisition represents a pivotal step in our mission to redefine the automotive service experience everywhere,” Wingo said in the press release. “Together, we will continue to innovate and expand our products and services, providing customers with the highest quality and most comprehensive vehicle cleanliness and health solutions in the market.”
