Friday Nooner: RevTechLabs’ Dan Roselli, aka The Godfather Of Charlotte Tech

This week features yet another Pete-less episode while our beloved No. 1 host floats around the Caribbean with a margarita in one hand and the guide to the Norwegian Escape‘s activities in the other. But have no fear, because Joe is here. Joe joined this week’s episode with a shorter-than-usual haircut that he says Jackie didn’t notice, though further inquiry proved that Joe actually announced his haircut to her just before he got it earlier this week.

In GrepBeat news, this week a profile on Inclusive Intakes, a Chapel Hill-based interactive mental health assessment startup, premiered along with another episode of our For Starters podcast. Jackie and Joe also discussed ChatGBT, an AI service that is becoming more and more advanced—or scary, depending on your view. The AI tech can now write meeting minutes and improve efficiency for companies (Pete, you might want to look out for your own job).

The crew welcomed the godfather of entrepreneurship in Charlotte: Dan Roselli of RevTechLabs, Here are some highlights of his delightful conversation:

  • Dan birthed RevTechLabs as the third phase of his career. He first became acquainted with the tech and investment world through being a marketing exec for Bank of America. He and his wife started Packard Place, a coworking and entrepreneurship hub, as his second phase, which has allowed his family to stay in Charlotte.
  • RevTechLabs is a unique accelerator mainly focused toward fintech and insurtech that aims to customize the mentorship experience for each startup that works with RevTechLabs. Dan’s approach to the process is to hit the “give me what I need right now” need of growing startups with a “you got it” approach.
  • The application for RevTechLabs’s 18th cycle is currently open, and Dan is eager to recruit. He is looking for startups focused around financial investment technology, big data, cybersecurity, and property tech that have likely raised from $500K to $1M and are generating revenue or working on pilots with a solid product. And he wants you to apply! Or attend his office hours to just get some advice.
