GrepBeat Hosts Wilmington Happy Hour to Cap Off NEW’s Investor Buzz In

Jim Roberts held court throughout this latest GrepBeat Happy Hour, which served as an after-party for his (and NEW's) latest Investor Buzz In

Well, this one was pretty cool….

Our patented GrepBeat Happy Hours are usually planned pretty well in advance, at familiar venues and with familiar crowds. This time around, things came together a little later in the game. With part of the team planning on attending the Network for Entrepreneurs in Wilmington’s Investor Buzz In (slash 910 Day celebration), we asked Jim Roberts (who was affectionally dubbed both “Lord of Wilmington” and “an acquired taste” on Thursday evening) if there were any after-party plans.

About 10 days, a bunch of venue calls, and a trip to the beach later, there we all were—capping off a very successful Buzz In (which we’ll recap in far more detail soon) with a Happy Hour at Flytrap Brewing in Downtown Wilmington. With much of the Buzz In crowd making the ~four-block walk—not a given being that was exactly when it decided to rain and settle into 4,000% humidity—we ended up with just about 100 attendees.

That made it one of our most heavily attended Happy Hours of the last few years. Big shout-outs are due to Team GrepBeat for pulling this off in short time; to Aprio for sponsoring the Happy Hour and covering attendees’ first drinks; to Flytrap for being so accommodating; to Flytrap resident dog Milly for gracing us with her impeccable vibes; and most of all to Jim Roberts, Jack Fleming, and the rest of the Wilmington crew for putting together a full day effectively promoting what they’ve got going on at the coast.

Again, we have a recap of the Investor Buzz In itself forthcoming. In the meantime, here’s a look at the Happy Hour:
