Pete and Joe today welcome guest Scott Babweh Brennen, the Head of Online Expression at the UNC-based Center on Technology Policy. It was an especially fitting time to discuss potential regulations in the tech world as four tech CEOs—including Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg—were raked over the coals at a Capitol Hill hearing on Wednesday.
While Scott felt that the bombastic hearing will likely turn out to be much about nothing—the federal government hasn’t passed a single bill regulating technology in years—he had plenty to say about the many public policy issues raised by the use of technology, especially the rise of generative AI. Scott and Joe also bonded over both having served in the Peace Corps.
