Raleigh Founded Director Lauren Romer joins the crew on this week’s edition of The Friday Nooner. For those unfamiliar, Raleigh Founded is a mission-driven coworking space designed to empower, foster and cultivate companies that produce long-term growth and positive social impact. Founded in 2012, it was the first coworking space in the Triangle (which is very cool). Lauren is also a licensed real estate agent, and she previously worked for IXL Learning.
Here are some highlights:
- Pete, Joe and Jackie discuss everything new with GrepBeat. For instance, our Exit Stories podcast’s recent episode features Chris Romeo, the co-founder and former CEO of Security Journey, a company that teaches developers how to improve security in their own companies. Chris talks about his entrepreneurial journey and how the startup was acquired by Pittsburgh-based HackEDU earlier this year.
- Joe also announced that we are adding a new shirt, which will include the ‘ForeverGrep’ logo, to GrepBeat’s recently launched swag store.
- Raleigh native and NC State grad Lauren joined Raleigh Founded in 2018 as a community coordinator. She quickly advanced into other roles, building out the marketing strategy and helping to tell local entrepreneurs’ stories. She was recently promoted to Director about five months ago. Lauren talks about how she got on board with the organization, its upcoming Startup Holiday Market on Nov. 4 and Covid’s impact.
- Joe led a “game” in which we each decided whether a given town (such as Mebane or Hillsborough) was inside or outside the Triangle. Much fun was had.
