Is DEI in Our DNA?
Promote and Sustain Diversity, Equity & Inclusivity in the Workplace
Having a strong record of diversity, equity, and inclusivity is critical for our region to attract top talent. Diverse teams create a dynamic work environment that inspire creativity and innovation. We are promoting the advancement of DEI solutions in the workforce, workplace, and marketplace.
As a part of those efforts, join us for our second annual Diversity, Equity & Inclusivity Conference on Aug. 9.
Keynote: Janice Little with Lowe’s
We’re excited to announce that our lunch keynote speaker will be Janice Little, global chief diversity officer and vice president of talent development at Lowe’s Companies, Inc. Little is responsible for culture and Lowe’s global diversity and inclusion strategy, working with other leaders to expand and develop programs that cultivate an inclusive workplace.
Prior to joining Lowe’s in 2017, Little most recently served as vice president of diversity & inclusion and chief diversity officer at McKesson Corporation. While there, she was responsible for designing innovative strategies focused on business, talent and culture. Little was recognized as a 2017 Top Executive in Corporate Diversity by Black Enterprise.
Setting the stage
Our morning will kick off with an address from Dr. Joanna Schwartz, professor of marketing at Georgia College. She has been a marketing professor at Georgia College for the past 14 years, focusing on consumer behavior, marketing research, and LGBTQ+ marketing. Previously, she did media research for Cox Broadcasting.
Schwartz’s passion is diversity and inclusion, with a particular emphasis on LGBTQ+ inclusion. Combining that with her business background, she has a deep interest in helping businesses better understand their markets and in helping people better understand each other. As someone who is trans, she feels as though the trans/non-binary piece is not only powerful, but eye-opening, because people can see trans and non-binary people through the stereotypes that surround us.
Please view our working agenda to learn more about what is planned during our DEI Conference.
